Christmas may still feel a little way off, but when it comes to your skin, two months is not actually that long.
Every year, we see patients who want their skin to look brighter, smoother and more refreshed for Christmas parties, photographs and events. The difficulty is that some of the treatments that can make the biggest difference to skin quality are not designed as last-minute fixes.
Collagen takes time to remodel. Pigmentation does not necessarily disappear immediately after treatment. Microneedling requires recovery, while laser treatments can cause temporary changes before the skin looks clearer.
That is why, if you have around 60 days before an important event, it makes sense to work backwards.
At The Heath Clinic in Hampstead, this does not mean fitting as many treatments as possible into eight weeks. It means identifying what is actually affecting your skin, deciding which concerns are worth addressing and allowing enough time for treatment and recovery.
Here is how a 60-day Christmas skin plan might look in practice.
Why Start Your Christmas Skin Plan 60 Days Before?
The first step is finding out what your skin actually needs.
It is easy to decide that you need a Hydrafacial because your complexion looks dull, microneedling because your pores seem more noticeable, or laser because pigmentation has appeared after summer. Sometimes that instinct is right. Sometimes what we see during a skin consultation points us in a different direction.
This is where VISIA 3D skin analysis can be particularly useful.
VISIA 3D uses detailed facial imaging to assess characteristics including pigmentation, UV spots, redness, pores, texture and wrinkles. Rather than relying only on what is immediately visible in the mirror, it gives us additional information about the complexion and provides a baseline against which changes can be compared.
Your scan is only part of the assessment. During your skin consultation, we also consider your skin history, current skincare, previous treatments, lifestyle and, importantly, what you would actually like to improve.
One person may have pigmentation that has become more obvious after summer. Another may have relatively even skin but feel that it looks dehydrated and congested. Someone else may be less concerned about surface glow and more bothered by early laxity around the jawline.
Those are very different starting points, so they should not lead to identical Christmas treatment plans.
What Skin Treatments Should You Have 6 to 8 Weeks Before Christmas?
The earlier part of your 60-day plan is the time to consider treatments that rely on collagen stimulation, skin renewal or the gradual clearance of pigmentation.
Which treatment we recommend depends on what is actually making your skin look tired or uneven:
- For texture, enlarged-looking pores, fine lines or acne scarring: SkinPen Microneedling with Exosomes
SkinPen creates controlled microchannels within the skin, triggering its natural repair response and stimulating new collagen. At The Heath Clinic, Exosomes can be used alongside microneedling to support healing and regeneration. Because collagen remodelling develops gradually, this is something we would generally plan earlier rather than treating as a last-minute glow treatment. - For early laxity, a softer jawline or reduced firmness: XERF
XERF is a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment that delivers controlled thermal energy beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin, helping to improve firmness, elasticity and definition. There is little to no downtime, but results are progressive, with improvements typically becoming more noticeable over the following 8 to 12 weeks. Starting early gives that collagen remodelling time to take place. - For pigmentation, redness and uneven tone: BBL HEROic
BBL uses BroadBand Light to target unwanted pigmentation and redness. It can be particularly relevant after summer when freckles, brown spots or areas of redness have become more noticeable. - For early sun damage, uneven tone and texture: MOXI
MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser that can improve uneven tone, early sun damage, texture, enlarged-looking pores and overall skin clarity. When both colour and texture need attention, BBL/MOXI can be combined within the same treatment plan.
Timing matters with laser and light treatments. Pigmented areas can temporarily darken after BBL before fading, while MOXI can cause redness followed by tiny areas of microscopic epidermal debris, known as MENDS, which gradually shed. We would therefore rather plan these treatments with enough breathing room than squeeze them into the days immediately before an important event.
If pigmentation is particularly noticeable after summer, you can read more about how we decide between BBL, MOXI and a combined approach for post-summer pigmentation.
The key is that these treatments are not interchangeable. Your skin consultation and VISIA 3D analysis help us decide whether the priority is pigmentation, texture, scarring, laxity or a combination of concerns, and which treatment deserves a place in your 60-day plan.
What Should You Have 2 to 4 Weeks Before a Christmas Party?
As Christmas gets closer, the emphasis can begin to shift from longer-term correction towards hydration, clarity and surface radiance.
Depending on your skin, we may consider:
- For dehydration, congestion and dullness: Hydrafacial Hydrafacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, gentle extraction and hydration in one treatment. It can refresh skin that feels dry, clogged or lacklustre without the recovery associated with more intensive resurfacing treatments. If your underlying skin quality is already good, this may be all that is needed.
- For hydration and luminosity: babyGLOW babyGLOW is an injectable skin-quality treatment using Redensity 1. Rather than significantly changing facial shape or adding noticeable volume, it is designed to support hydration and skin radiance. We would still allow appropriate time before an important occasion, as temporary redness, swelling or bruising can occur.
These treatments can also sit within a wider plan. Someone having XERF for firmness, for example, may have Hydrafacial closer to their event for surface hydration and freshness. Someone who had BBL/MOXI earlier in the countdown may find that their skin does not need anything further once it has settled.
For patients considering an injectable skin-quality treatment but unsure which approach is appropriate, we have also explained how different skin booster treatments compare.
This is why the final few weeks are not automatically about adding another treatment. Sometimes the best approach is to let the work you have already done continue to show.
What Should You Do in the Final Week Before an Event?
By the final week, the aim should generally be to protect the progress you have already made rather than suddenly introducing an intensive new treatment.
This is particularly important if you have spent the previous weeks addressing pigmentation, texture or collagen. Your skin may still be going through its normal renewal or remodelling process even though the treatment itself took place several weeks earlier.
It is also worth remembering that everybody’s skin responds differently. A treatment with relatively little downtime for one person may leave another with redness or swelling for longer.
If you have several Christmas events rather than one important date, tell your practitioner when planning your treatments. Work parties, dinners, weddings, travel and photographs can all affect sensible timing.
The closer we get to an event, the more conservative we tend to become. The goal is healthy, settled skin, not trying to squeeze in one more procedure because there happens to be space in the diary.

FAQs About Planning Skin Treatments Before Christmas
Should I try a new skin treatment just before an important event?
Ideally, avoid leaving an unfamiliar treatment until immediately before an important occasion. Individual responses vary, and even treatments with minimal downtime can cause temporary redness, swelling or other visible changes.
Can I wear make-up after my Christmas skin treatment?
It depends on the treatment. Some procedures require a period without make-up while the skin barrier recovers, whereas others allow a quicker return to your normal routine. Your practitioner will give you treatment-specific aftercare.
Do I still need SPF during winter?
Yes. Daily sun protection remains important throughout the year, particularly when you are having treatments for pigmentation or procedures that can make the skin more sensitive to UV exposure.
Is it too late to start if Christmas is less than 60 days away?
Not necessarily. It simply changes what may be realistic. Rather than compressing an eight-week plan into two or three weeks, we can prioritise treatments that suit the time available and leave longer-term concerns for another stage.
Start With Your Skin, Not the Countdown
A 60-day Christmas glow plan does not need to contain six treatments.
For some patients, the right approach may be VISIA 3D skin analysis followed by BBL/MOXI and a carefully timed Hydrafacial. For someone else, SkinPen Microneedling with Exosomes may deserve most of the available time. Another patient may be more concerned with early loss of firmness, making XERF a more relevant starting point.
And sometimes, after looking properly at the skin, the answer is to do less.
